About the owner

Addie Yoon is a passionate oboist from Norman, Oklahoma who is studying at the University of Oklahoma (OU), where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Oboe Performance under the tutelage of Shawn Welk.  

A passionate chamber musician, she has been the oboist for the Audax Reed Quintet, Refraction Woodwind Quintet and the TAS Trio performing works from classical to contemporary composers. With the Audax Reed Quintet, they were awarded the first alternate position for the Coltman Chamber Competition in 2022.  

At the University of Oklahoma, she was an oboist for the renowned Wind Symphony and the Symphony Orchestra. With the Wind Symphony, she has served as principal oboist and was featured on their 2022 album Ogygia featuring works by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Omar Thomas, Morten Lauridsen and John Mackey. With the Symphony Orchestra, she has been involved in numerous operas such as Rossini’s La Scala di Seta, Gluck’s Orfeo ef Euridice, Floyd’s Susannah, and Lehar’s The Merry Widow. Additionally, she was involved with the university’s 2023 production of The Nutcracker in collaboration with the OU School of Dance which is performed every 7 years.  

In addition to Addie’s collegiate experience, she was a fellow at the Rocky Ridge Music Center in 2024 where she studied under Peter Cooper, principal oboist of the Colorado Symphony and Jason Lichtenwalter, English Horn with the Colorado Symphony.  

Some of her accolades include, 2nd prize at the International Double Reed Society Midwest Chapter Eric Varner Young Artist Competition and was a finalist in the OU Concerto Competition in 2024.  

Outside of music, Addie enjoys 3D printing, reading, running and playing video games. Her current 3D printing project involves creating recyclable reed cases made from upcycled plastic bottles.
